About us

As society continues to age, the number of patients with kidney and urological diseases is steadily increasing. However, it is difficult to say that sufficient knowledge about these conditions has been widely disseminated. Sharing accurate, up-to-date findings and promoting shared decision-making (SDM) based on this knowledge is critically important.

Although significant progress has been made in the diagnosis and treatment of kidney and urological diseases, many of these advancements have originated overseas. Their effectiveness within the Japanese population has not been fully validated. In addition, certain diseases present with Japan-specific symptoms, highlighting the need for diagnostic methods and treatment approaches tailored to the unique context of Japan’s healthcare environment.

The Japanese Urological and Nephrological Disease Research Network (JUN-net) engages in educational initiatives aimed at providing accurate information to both the general public and healthcare professionals. It also facilitates collaborative, multi-center clinical research to advance medical understanding and practice in these fields.

Awareness-Raising Activities

  • Dissemination of accurate and up-to-date information on renal cell carcinoma
  • Development of shared decision-making (SDM) tools for patients with renal cell carcinoma

Research Activities

  • Spin-off Research: Randomized clinical trials of Sunitinib and Sorafenib for metastatic renal cell carcinoma
  • Prospective registry study on prostate cancer

Educational Initiatives

  • Organization of academic conferences and seminars on kidney and urological diseases (including co-hosting and sponsorship)
